What a full system replaces

A full system starts at the cylinder head and finishes at the tailpipe. It takes in the header pipes from each exhaust port, the collector where they meet, the mid-pipe and the silencer. A slip-on only replaces the last part of that chain. That is the whole difference: more of the bike gets disturbed, not just the end can. Everything the header connects to changes at once, not only the last few inches of pipe.

One documented full-system fitting, done on a faired sportsbike back in 2010, involved removing bodywork panels, a side cover, and even the rear brake fluid reservoir to reach the old system. The model in that job is long since superseded. It is not a spec for any bike here. It is a reminder that a full system can reach further into a bike than the exhaust itself, especially behind fairings.

Five names, one part

Our own titles do not agree on what to call this. Five different phrasings turn up for the same kind of product, all inside this one collection:

All five mean the same thing: everything from the head to the tailpipe, not a single part sold on its own. If a title reads oddly next to what you searched for, check the SKU before assuming it is the wrong product.

Built for the track, mostly

A third of this shelf says so on the box. 51 of the 145 systems here carry Race or Racing in their own title: Akrapovic's Racing Line, its Exhaust Race and Exhaust Racing names, and LeoVince's LV Race. Akrapovic's other line stocked here, Evolution Line, is not badged that way. Among the LeoVince systems, 26 titles say with CAT. The rest do not say either way.

None of that is a legality claim. Our listings do not record whether a given system is road legal, MOT-compliant or type-approved, race-badged or not. If that matters for your bike, ask the parts desk before you order. Do not guess from a product name.

Fuelling

Manufacturers generally do not require a fuel controller or a remap to run a full system. Several recommend fitting one anyway, for the full benefit of the new system. That guidance is mostly reseller-repeated manufacturer wording, not something we can confirm directly ourselves. Follow the instructions supplied with your specific system. That governs it, not a general line on this page.

What else to check

Some full systems remove the oxygen sensor's original mounting point. Several parts retailers sell a separate plug to close the gap. Check whether yours needs one before you fit it.
